About me

"I write because I must. It's not a choice or a pastime, it's an unyielding calling and my passion."

~Elizabeth Reyes~

About me? Well, I was born and raised and continue to live in sunny southern California. I'm married and have two wonderful teens. My love for writing began when I was just a kid though, I never really had any dreams or aspirations of doing it for a living. Then along came the age of eReaders and I saw an opportunity to get my writing out for the world to read without jumping through hoops and getting past the red tape of trying to get traditionally published. The Moreno Brothers series has literally changed my life. I now wake up to go to work a few yards from my bed. 5th Street is my second series with 4 out Noah, Gio, Hector and Abel out already and on more to come. "Felix." There is also the Moreno Brothers spinoff series,  Fate with Fate and Breaking Brandon out and two more to come. I just put out my first traditionally published book and first in my next series Desert Heat. But I have much more to come. Check back often.

I love hearing from my readers and try to always try to respond as soon as I can,  but if there is a certain question being asked over and over instead of answering it 20 times I will post on my FAQ page so check there often! I've been super busy so please bear with me if I'm not quick on responding to your messages/comments!

For funsies: 11 things about me:

1. I'm considerably tall for a woman about 5'9 and I love wearing HIGH heels. Though I don't so much lately. But I used to do the Valerie thing when I was younger BIG shoes! Good thing my husband is 6'3. =)

2. I chew my nails. *sigh* a habit I've sadly never been able to break out of.

3. I love to sing. Yep karaoke is a good friend of mine.

4 . Like in so many of my stories I married my first love. And we're still together after almost 18 years. Unlike most of my stories we've NEVER broken up. Not even for a day. And yes ladies he is an alpha through and through.  =)

5. My first job was a cashier at Kmart.  My first real job (and by real I mean I was counting on it to pay the bills) 411 operator for the phone company. "What city please?" lol

6. I own and love Great Danes. And yes Diesel was the name of my first one. He's passed now =( but now we have Dexter.

7. In case none of you have guessed it by now.  I have quite the potty mouth. Writing Manny and Max's and Romero's dialogue was much easier for me than you guys would imagine. In fact toning down the language in my books is actually harder for me. =/

8. I LOVE the holidays! And I mean LOOOOVE the baking, cooking, decorating, shopping, wrapping, playing the songs, choosing the perfect tree you name it. I'm always a little down in January every year when it's all over. =(

9. You may have noticed my characters are always grubbing. That's because I love to cook. Most of the dishes mentioned in my books are some of my specialties. =)

10.  I'm a tree nerd. BIG time. I have a half acre backyard and I love spending time out there planting more and more trees. =)

11. I love deviled ham and crackers. Unsalted tops please.

  1. I read these books over Thanksgiving break, all of them, and patiently waiting for Sal's story. However, I, as a reader I wanted to go through Pat's story because I wanted to know how she got like that. What made her into that pain because the restf them are not like that. I know no one deserves that, but I am just curious.

  2. hmm interesting, my characters are always based very loosely on someone I've encountered in my life or a combination of a few people and believe it or not I've known a few overachievers in my time who feel a bit inadequate for different reasons and need to make up for it in other ways. But it's true this could make for a good story/main character. ;) Thanks for the interest!

  6. I'm about to start reading Romero. Man I was hooked from the first book and I haven't put them down. I really enjoy reading series like this especially when in the following books you give details about how the characters are doing. I'll continue to look for more books from you & you are right you can't write fast enough and I can't read fast enough!

  8. Omg!You are so awesome! I love that you listen to your readers and take the time to answer there questions. I read Forever Mine a few months ago and finished it in about a day. I just had to have the other ones. I'd say that I liked the first book the best, mostly because of Angel. Lol. But all of the books were amazing. I have to ask, what is your favorite book in the series and who is your favorite character? Do you have one?

  9. LOVE LOVE LOVE all 5 books! Sal's story was my favorite and I was in tears when everything hit the fan. My heart hurt for Grace.....but I so love happy endings! :) So sad to see it end, but am eagerly awaiting any surprise announcements! ;)

  10. Just finished Sal's book! I really enjoyed all the books. Thank you so much for the updates on the other couples at the end of the book, especially Angel and Sara's short story (which i cried), but I loved!
I can't wait to read your new series coming out!

  11. I just finished Sal's book. LOVED it! I loved all of the new characters. Rose, Joey and Taylor were a few of my favorites and it would totally cool to read more about Rose and Vin. I was heart broken when i read that their relationship did'nt make it. They were so cute together. And about Sarah and Angel's short story, I cried multiple times. I love the Moreno family even more with all of the new kids. So cute! I did keep me wondering about Rose and Sydney though. What happend to Sydney? Will he ever fall in love again? I sooooo want to read more about those 2 characters. Thank you so much for writing such a great series!!

  12. Hey guys! I promise I am trying to keep up with all your comments and questions. First of all thank you for loving my characters as much as I do. As far is who is my favorite I was just asked this in a recent interview and like I told them "That's like asking me to pick my favorite child" BUT I did have the funnest writing Romero's funny stuff. ;) Though I was really worried that my readers would not embrace his anger issues.

As far as Rose and Vince. You know me I'd never leave things the way they were left. Stay tuned! ;)

  14. I finished all your books including Noah and I can't wait for the rest. I have laughed and cried through them all and that is what makes any person a terrific writer. When I read a book I want to be able to leave my life and become so engrossed in the characters I'm reading about. Its a great experience when you can really see the characters in your mind so clearly that they become so real. Its a gift that I am so glad that writers have and you have so far been the best one yet. Thank you for writing.

  15. Elizabeth I just wanted to THANK YOU…. For all of these amazing stories. My favorite "ROMERO" I just love the fact that all of these males know what they want, and are not just going to let their go bounce around with any other man EVER!!! Unlike our reality. We need more men like these, and women whom stay true to the man they LOVEEEEE, even when not everything is so picture perfect….

Well hope all is well with you, and your family….

Can't wait for Rose & Vince story:::)
    LOve Liz.

  16. Thank you Liz! <3 I'm gonna start asking everyone that tells me they loved Romero to please either leave a review or please spread the word. I had SO much fun writing his story and for some reason his book has never sold quite as well as the others. My take is everyone that read the first 3 books didn't think he'd make a very good hero. But if they just gave him a chance they'd see how wrong they are and how very vulnerable and loveable he really is. =D

Thank you for sharing and making me smile this morning!

    1. Hey Elizabeth,

I absolutely love Romero!!! He is my favorite out of all the male characters. I read his book probably 5 times if not more. haha. I like the way he fell for his Izzy and that nobody can say anything bad about her! What I love most is his anger issues! This is life - he just doesn't care what other people think of him and shows his true feelings, doesn't matter how crazy they are! lol

Thanks for those amazing stories! I'd love if you invent another Romero-like character or maybe write a second novel about him and Izzy.

Can't wait for your next novel!

  25. Hi Elizabeth! LOVE your stuff. I was hoping you could suggest some great books with alpha males that could tide me over untill your next book is released!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Hi Margaret.

Sure alpha males if you haven't already the Fifty Shades of Gray trilogy just be mindful that it is erotica and Travis from Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire is the ultimate alpha. You also HAVE to read the Vincent Boys series and Because of Low by Abbi Glines. Lucas from Easy is a bit of an alpha also very protective I haven't read any but. There are a couple of lists my guys always seem to make over on GoodReads lol

    http://www.goodreads.com/list/show/13377.Fictional_males_that_make_you_squirm_in_a_good_way_?page=5#12026145

    And

    http://www.goodreads.com/list/show/20968.Possesive_Men#12026145

Seems every one of my books is on the Possessive men one! But you could check out the other books on that list.

  35. I love your books and have read all of them. As a latina I love that the main characters have been latino men and that they portray a part of our culture that sometimes doesn't get attention. Our love of Family and how we support each other. I too have been with my first love since high school and we have been together 17 years married for 11. Thanks for such great books!! Your one of my favorite authors!!

  39. I just came across your books a few weeks ago. When I first read Angel and Sarah's story I had to buy the rest and read them all. Sal and Grace was my favorite out of all of them. I then started reading the 5th Street books. I have only read the first one so far. I have the second one to read but I wanted to go back to the Moreno brothers before I continued that series. I just finished Vince and Rosie today and cannot wait to find out what other people you will write about from the Moreno brothers stories. Cannot wait for all other books and stories you have to come.
